Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day?

for Violin, Cello, and Piano

2001. 11 minutes.

I consider my piano trio to be my opus. 1, my first mature work. It is sort of the anti-sonnet. Inspired by the formal structure of the famous poem, it reflects a certain rage and melodramaticism that I was obsessed with at the time. Perhaps I still am to some extent. The combination of process and intuition at play here I find very appealing.
