L'hommage à Tout

for flute, clarinet, and piano

2003. 12 minutes.

An extended (grand?) waltz. Written when I was in an unusually good mood. I really like waltzes, especially if they are not by Johann Strauss. Periodically, I enter a phase where I feel the composer should just be able to write music that is witty and clever, and completely appealing, and that that is enough. This piece is a product of that feeling. I don't try and break new musical ground here, I just try and have a good time. It is a celebration of joie de vivre. It is a celebration of everything.
